The last 12 months on social media have been jam packed. Our favourite social media platforms are forever evolving, algorithms are changing and new features are popping up left right & centre.
Blink and you’ll miss it!
Many of the highlights featured below revolve around major social or political events such as elections & live sports events which saw platforms such as Facebook capitalising on the buzz.
Your prayers were heard and features were improved on such as Instagram’s now existent photo zoom. Who thought we’d ever see the day!
We’ve seen a big shift in favour of videos with the likes of Twitter and Instagram improving video features. No surprise here though, with the second highest number of monthly visitors, YouTube is a perfect example of how viewers are visual creatures!
Algorithms, yes I said it. Boy, do they change as quick as Taylor Swift’s boyfriends and keeping up can be tricky. The newest platform to join in on the confusing timeline ranking is Instagram.
Snapchat established a disappearing video trend that set it apart from all other apps until now. Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp all joined in!
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Snapchat then rivalled Facebook’s albums with Snapchat memories, a collection of your favourite snaps all in one album.
So as you can see keeping up with the Joneses of social media can be as difficult as pleasing your mother in law, but we’ve compiled a list of the top highlights to keep you in the loop with our Social media in the news 2016 – 2017 Infographic.
